This Is A Mutually Paid-For Apprenticeship

This is a mutually paid-for apprenticeship. Scott spends as much on you, as a selected apprentice as you'll pay in tuition. You'll easily and affordably pay for the valuable tuition you receive via a stepped, monthly pay plan, and we pay you a modest commission when serving house clientele. You'll also receive generous tippage during your participation in the program. Additional performance bonuses are also offered, as well as product sales commissions and sales bonuses. Typically, apprentices earn more than they actually pay out in commission during their apprenticeship, and for the right candidate Scott will personally guarantee a minimum commission income equivalent to your own tuition payouts over the 6-month apprenticeship.

This apprenticeship prepares you, and qualifies you for, a marked increase in your earned billable rates, and culminates in your opportunity to lease a chair at at M. Scott studio that's ultimately the same rate as your final tuition payout- easily providing you the opportunity to assume your dream of independence while working within a professional, supportive environment of select peers and excellent leadership. Your affordable chair lease is offset with twice-monthly commission payments to offset our expense! (See Below).

All applicants, including Apprentice candidates, must hold a current Utah Cosmetology License to be considered.
All staff are bound by the studio's Rules of Professional Conduct, and various House Rules, Policies, and Procedures (generally regarding conduct, presentation, Sequence of Service, etc.) Some information about our House Policies (in particular those related to privacy and professional client contact) may be gleaned by reviewing those communicated to our clients, HERE.
ALL Associates are required to sign a binding, standard Independent Contractor Agreement that contains typical terms related to client privacy and relations, non-disclosures, non-compete, recruitment, solicitation, commercial theft and other basic caveats and conditions.

DETAILS

Instruction includes that associated with advanced techniques, traditions, best practices, general salon procedures, protocols, classic and contemporary cutting and coloring, salon business and management, upstyles, classic hair dressage, practices and procedures for weddings, television studio, photoshoot, and runway techniques, retail sales techniques, client consultation methods, and much more. Details will be provided during your interview with Scott M.
This is a mutually paid-for apprenticeship. You will easily and affordably pay for the valuable tuition you receive, and we pay you a reasonable commission tips, and tip-sharing for apprentice work during your participation in the program. Additional performance bonuses are also offered.
The cost of the apprenticeship is $3,000. During the period of your apprenticeship, you make easy monthly payments beginning at low, and scaling upwards over 6 months, culminating at an amount equal to the anticipated amount of your monthly chair lease thereafter. This "stepped" increase in your monthly outlay makes the transition from apprenticeship to independence easier. The balance is paid in full on graduation, and you thereafter begin paying monthly rent PLUS you receive a commission for serving salon clientele.
A Sign-On Bonus may be offered by Scott M. This can be paid out and used in any manner you choose- for instance it can be used toward your Supplies Deposit, as a graduation gift to yourself, or assistance with your first month's rent at the completion of your apprenticeship.
Our apprenticeship is a post-graduate program. You must have completed your regular schooling, pass your written and practicum examinations, and hold a valid Utah license before you can begin your apprenticeship.
The apprenticeship lasts 6 months, 2-3 days and/or evenings per week. Intense education is first, with capstone education and projects being addressed in the final months. At Scott's discretion this may be modified to 9 months. In this event, the terms of payment (etc) may be modified accordingly.
As an Apprentice, you'll be allowed to book your own personal clients during your assigned work days free of charge (no rent for 6 months) during which you can perform services on your own clientele when not otherwise assisting. The Apprentice keeps this revenue for themselves, and no rent is owed the studio.
At the conclusion of the Apprenticeship, you are accorded "Protégé" status and will be assigned house clientele bookings. Your assisting responsibilities end after graduation approval by Scott M.
Additionally, upon graduation and your status as Protégé, your service pricing will be markedly increased. You'll be afforded the opportunity to begin your career from a running start, with an earned price point for your services that is significantly higher than a standard post-graduate one.
Upon graduation, your booking days may be increased and you'll pay the current chair rental rate for them. At your request, this can be increased to additional days at the prevailing chair lease rates. House clientele bookings will augment your own personal clientele bookings. You'll also be paid service commissions (and tips received), product sales commissions twice monthly for serving house clientele. This will serve to offset your rents due each month (see below, Chair Lease with Commission Offset)
A significant add-on value to your post-apprenticeship period is provided by Scott M with regards to continued mentoring and go-to advises, etc., as the mentor/protege relationship is maintained. Considerable business/marketing/finance advise will be offered by Scott M, for your benefit and continued successes.
